LaproFlex monopolar hook used during Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS)

Work around the scope

Problem

Struggle between optimal view and access with instrument

During a TAMIS procedure, at least three devices (e.g. scope, grasper and monopolar hook) are introduced through the access platform (e.g. gelpoint) into the tight area of the rectum. Obtaining a good view is predominant. For the surgeon it is challenging to maneuver the instruments to the target area without pushing the scope aside or collisions with the handles.
As a result; 1) large forces are applied to the rectum to drag into the reach of the monopolar hook, 2) instruments are switched repetitively, and 3) the scope needs to be cleaned often after being pushed against the wall.

“The LaproFlex monopolar hook can move around the endoscope and grasper.”

– J. van Hoogstraten, M.D.

Solution

The LaproFlex hook can be steered around the scope

The LaproFlex monopolar hook can be maneuvered and orientated in the full range of the scope view without interfering the view as it can be steered in between and over the scope and grasper. On the outside, space can be created between the handles of the instruments to avoid collisions.

“I can work fluently without struggling with the scope.”

– B. van Wely, M.D.
